![]() |
Tamara DesiatovTamara Desiatov has lived in the northern suburbs for 15 years with her partner, a nurse, and her two young children. Tamara is a filmmaker and community arts worker. |
Tamara, 36, has been standing up for local neighbourhoods and fair services since her teens. “By sixteen, I was writing letters about development and suburban sprawl, medical waste, and degraded environments, and working with organizations against the nuclear industry”.
Tamara has broad experience over the last 15-20 years working with many different groups across Western Australia around issues such as industrial relations, censorship, urban bushland, urban sprawl, housing, nuclear, refugee issues, women’s issues, and education - Tafe & University, as well as peer support in High Schools.
Tamara has campaigned to address issues such as HECS and accessibility in education. In 2006, she worked with the SINCEP Program at Balga Senior High School (Aboriginal Students), with special-ed classes at Koondoola Primary School (international students), and the African communites around Mirrabooka, Balga, Girrawheen and Koondoola, creating 15 films with Aboriginal communities and our new African communities that “share stories about home, to create more understanding and compassion.”
