The Greens (WA) have today described outgoing Senator, and Federal party room leader, Bob Brown, as the progressive voice of his generation.
“Bob has for many years had a level of respect that transcends party lines,” said senior WA Greens MP Giz Watson.
“He epitomises everything that people want from politics in general – clearly stated values, perpetually defended with courage and integrity.”
“Praise is flooding in from within the WA party and of course the broader movement for social change here too.”
“One thread sticks out – he was arguably the greatest progressive orator of his generation, ” concluded Giz.

The Greens (WA) congratulated Christine Milne and new deputy party room leader, Adam Bandt.
“Christine Milne has represented causes at local, state, national and international levels – all before her selection as leader today,” said WA party co-convenor Kim Dravnieks.
“The Greens nationally and at all other levels of government will benefit from her long-term vision and cut-through capacity as a speaker.”
“The WA Greens are well served politically at a federal and state level, and have a strong and growing base of supporters from all walks of life.
“Bob will no doubt continue to take a keen interest in important WA issues, such as the prospect of industrialising the Kimberley and ensuring the benefits of the mining boom flow to all Australians,” concluded Kim.
The Greens WA will continue to take the political lead in areas of social democracy, justice, health and environmental issues in the lead up to important state and federal elections in 2013.
