IN JULY, SENATOR SCOTT LUDLAM TRAVELLED TO JAPAN and spent days in the areas surrounding the destroyed Fukushima reactor complex, wrecked after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami. He spoke with locals displaced by the disaster, met with the rapidly growing anti-nuclear movement and joined thousands as they marched in Tokyo calling for the permanent phase out of Japans nuclear industry. The uranium in Fukushima was from Australia. As the WA State Government and Toro Energy keep charging ahead with plans to commence uranium mining in WA, we risk becoming an intrinsic part of this deadly cycle.
