How we work

The Greens (WA) make decisions at Regional Group meetings which are held monthly. Decisions are made by consensus of all members attending. Regional Groups are based on geographic areas corresponding to Federal Electorates.

These decisions are enacted at Representative (Reps) Council which meets monthly to act as the coordinating body of the Regional Groups. It makes decisions on behalf of The Greens (WA). Representatives of the Regional Groups are the principal decision-makers within Reps Council. Most decisions are made by consensus although there is an ability to go to a vote when consensus can't be reached.

An Administrative Working Group makes day to day decisions about the running of the office. Prior to elections Election Campaign Committees are set up to co-ordinate the election campaign and the campaigns of the Regional Groups.

Policy is framed by The Greens (WA) members. Policy preambles and principles must be passed by ballot of the membership as a whole. Specific policies are developed by members usually at election time.

Policy preambles and principles have been initiated for the four Green pillars (Participatory Democracy, Social Justice, Environment, Peace and Disarmament) plus Economics. Social Justice, Participatory Democracy and Peace and Nonviolence policies have been ratified by ballot.

All meeting of The Greens (WA) are open to all members of the party.
