There is no excuse for the Opposition to attempt to talk out the "One Vote One Value Bill", according to Greens MLC, Dr Chrissy Sharp
"The electoral package that the Greens advocate already passed through both Houses of Parliament in 2002.
"All the issues have been thoroughly canvassed through many weeks of three readings once already."
The Electoral Reform Bill was passed by State Parliament in 2002, but later rejected in the State Supreme Court on the grounds that it was passed with only a simple majority, rather than a constitutional majority.
Before May 22, the Labor Government has adequate numbers, with the support of the Greens WA and Independent MLC, Alan Cadby to pass the reforms with the required extra vote that will provided a constitutional majority.
Dr Sharp says she encourages the Opposition to adopt a more constructive approach to the coming debate on electoral reform in the Legislative Council.
"It is pretty pathetic that all the Liberals can up with is a filibuster.
"Why don't they sit down at the negotiating table with some concrete proposals?"
The Greens will be meeting on Tuesday 26 April, to discuss their tactics in regards to the Opposition's threat to block the reform by talking it out.
