Budget fails environment
"The only green thing about this Budget is the non-recyclable, glossy cover," said Greens MLC Paul Llewellyn.
"The environment has been relegated to a lifestyle consideration in the Budget Overview."
The Budget fails to address the following long term challenges:
transforming our electricity network to one based around renewable energy - instead spending $320m to prop up the Muja coal-fired power station
water conservation and water catchment recovery - instead spending $955 million on another desalination plant.
preparing WA for a world without cheap oil - instead spending $810 million, next year alone, on roads and highways.
building a comprehensive network of conservation reserves - instead building Dubai Disney on the Swan
