The architect of Germany's highly successful Renewable Energy Laws is visiting
Perth as part of a National speaking tour.
Hans Joseph Fells MdB, Greens Member of the Federal Parliament of Germany, and
International Energy Spokesman, will address a breakfast seminar on Renewable Energy
Policy in Perth on Saturday 17 May 2008.
Hans-Josef Fell says, "The renewable energy industry has been booming in Germany for
the last 7 years. With the adoption of the Renewable Energies Act in 2000, 14% of
electricity produced in German is sourced from renewable technologies."
"Besides climate protection, renewables contribute to securing a reliable and affordable
power supply especially with oil prices skyrocketing and future supply decreasing. A
breakdown of the world economy due to oil shortage can only be prevented by rapid
development of renewable energies and energy saving."
"If Germany can develop a successful solar and wind energy industry, then the potential in
Australia is vastly greater because our wind and sun energy resources are so much better,"
said Paul Llewellyn MLC for the South West Region.
Mr Fell is being hosted by Paul Llewellyn MLC and Western Australian Sustainable Energy
Association;
